The influence of Ramanujan on number theory is without parallel in
mathematics. His papers, problems and letters have spawned a remarkable
number of later results by many different mathematicians. Here, his 37
published papers, most of his first two and last letters to Hardy, the
famous 58 problems submitted to the Journal of the Indian Mathematical
Society, and the commentary of the original editors (Hardy, Seshu Aiyar
and Wilson) are reprinted again, after having been unavailable for some
time. In this, the third printing of Ramanujan's collected papers, Bruce
Berndt provides an annotated guide to Ramanujan's work and to the
mathematics it inspired over the last three-quarters of a century. The
historical development of ideas is traced in the commentary and by
citations to the copious references. The editor has done the
mathematical world a tremendous service that few others would be
qualified to do.<br />

<b>Daniel Moran - Climate Change and National Security: A Country-Level Analysis</b><br />
Published: 2011-03-22 | ISBN: 1589017412 | PDF | 320 pages | 4 MB<br />
<br />
In this unique and innovative contribution to environmental security, an
international team of scholars explore and estimate the
intermediate-term security risks that climate change may pose for the
United States, its allies and partners, and for regional and global
order through the year 2030. In profiles of forty-two key countries and
regions, each contributor considers the problems that climate change
will pose for existing institutions and practices. By focusing on the
conduct of individual states or groups of nations, the results add new
precision to our understanding of the way environmental stress may be
translated into political, social, economic, and military challenges in
the future.<br />
Countries and regions covered in the book include China, Vietnam, The
Philippines, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Central Asia, the
European Union, the Persian Gulf, Egypt, Turkey, the Maghreb, West
Africa, Southern Africa, the Northern Andes, and Brazil.<br />

English | 2009 | ISBN: 0765617072 | PDF | 999 pages | 9,3 MB</div>
<br />
This global examination of the historical and contemporary problem of
the abuse of children in the workplace is an outstanding work. The
editor is a professor of labor and human resources and previously wrote
Child Labor: An American History (Sharpe, 2002). <br />
<br />
A well-qualified editorial board and 190 authors of the 222 original
essays have contributed to a clearly arranged, accessible book. The work
begins with a series of essays presented in four sections:
“Understanding Child Labor,” “More Developed Regions of the World,”
“Less Developed Regions of the World,” and “Action Against Child Labor.”
These sections are followed by treatments arranged by continent and
country. Coverage of individual countries ranges from a page containing a
map and some statistics to a single thematic essay (for example, “Child
Labor in Honduras,” “Child Soldiers in Myanmar”) to a series of essays.
There are 11 essays for India and 13 essays for the U.S. Very helpful
current references and suggestions for further reading are at the end of
each entry. Black-and-white photos, tables, and charts aid in
understanding the topic. The large index is accurate. This scholarly
resource is unique among books on the subject and will be very useful in
large public and academic libraries.<br />

pioneered by leading research scientists are proving that Ayurveda -
with its emphasis on health as well as disease - is probably the world's
most holistic health health system. As allopathis drugs extract a heavy

from Lockheed Martin to McDonald’s are moving in, Ford is setting up
factories, Coca Cola is heading to the countryside in rickshaws, and
research centers for Fortune 500 companies are popping up everywhere.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military is forging close ties, as India has become a
key strategic partner.<br />

<br />
This authoritative reference volume emphasizes the importance and
interrelationships of geological processes to the health and diseases of
humans and animals.<br />
Its accessible format fosters better communication between the health
and geoscience communities by elucidating the geologic origins and flow
of toxic elements in the environment that lead to human exposure through
the consumption of food and water.<br />
<br />
For example, problems of excess intake from drinking water have been
encountered for several inorganic compounds, including fluoride in
Africa and India; arsenic in certain areas of Argentina, Chile, and
Taiwan; selenium in seleniferous areas in the U.S., Venezuela, and
China; and nitrate in agricultural areas with heavy use of fertilizers.
Environmental influences on vector borne diseases and stormflow water
quality influences are also featured. Numerous examples of the
environmental influences on human health from across the globe are also
presented and discussed in this volume.<br />

responsible for these changes. Das argues that the changes of the past
50 years have, at last, amounted to a revolution in India. By weaving
his personal story into the larger context of contemporary history, Das
provides a book that is at once vigorously analytical and vividly
written.<br />

Morgan Kaufmann | October 10, 2008 | English | ISBN: 0123744458 | PDF | 336 pages | 2.9 MB </div>
<br />
In the last ten years IT has brought fundamental changes to the way the
world works. Not only has it increased the speed of operations and
communications, but it has also undermined basic assumptions of
traditional business models and increased the number of variables.
Today, the survival of major corporations is challenged by a world-wide
marketplace, international operations, outsourcing, global communities, a
changing workforce, security threats, business continuity, web
visibility, and customer expectations. Enterprises must constantly adapt
or they will be unable to compete.<br />
<br />
Fred Cummins, an EDS Fellow, presents IT as a key enabler of the agile
enterprise. He demonstrates how the convergence of key
technologies--including SOA, BPM and emerging enterprise and data
models--can be harnessed to transform the enterprise. Cummins mines his
25 years experience to provide IT leaders, as well as enterprise
architects and management consultants, with the critical information,
skills, and insights they need to partner with management and redesign
the enterprise for continuous change. No other book puts IT at the
center of this transformation, nor integrates these technologies for
this purpose.<br />
<br />
<br />
* Shows how to integrate and deploy critical technologies to foster agility.<br />
<br />
* Details how to design an enterprise architecture that takes full
advantage of SOA, BPM, business rules, enterprise information
management, business models, and governance <br />
<br />
* Outlines IT's critical mission in providing an integration
infrastructure and key services, while optimizing technology adoption
throughout the enterprise. <br />
<br />
* Illustrates concepts with examples and cases from large and small commercial enterprises.<br />
<br />
* Shows how to create systems that recognize and respond to the need for change.<br />
<br />
* Identifies the unique security issues that arise with SOA and shows
how to deploy a framework of technologies and processes that address
them.<br />

Expert Solutions and State-of-the-Art Code Examples<br />
SOA Using Java Web Services is a hands-on guide to implementing Web
services and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with today’s Java EE 5
and Java SE 6 platforms. Author Mark Hansen presents in explicit detail
the information that enterprise developers and architects need to
succeed, from best-practice design techniques to state-of-the-art code
samples.<br />
Hansen covers creating, deploying, and invoking Web services that can be
composed into loosely coupled SOA applications. He begins by reviewing
the “big picture,” including the challenges of Java-based SOA
development and the limitations of traditional approaches. Next, he
systematically introduces the latest Java Web Services (JWS) APIs and
walks through creating Web services that integrate into a comprehensive
SOA solution. Finally, he shows how application frameworks based on JWS
can streamline the entire SOA development process and introduces one
such framework: SOA-J.<br />

Appendix C: Odds and Ends<br />
Appendix D: Applications Gallery<br />
<br />
Chapter 1 introduces you to Java and begins to cover the Java language
by focusing on fundamental concepts such as comments, identifiers,
variables, expressions, and statements.<br />
<br />
Chapter 2 continues to explore this language by presenting all of its
features for working with classes and objects. You learn about features
related to class declaration and object creation, encapsulation,
information hiding, inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, and garbage
collection.<br />
<br />
Chapter 3 focuses on the more advanced language features related to
nested classes, packages, static imports, exceptions, assertions,
annotations, generics, and enums. Additional chapters will introduce you
to the few features not covered in Chapters 1 through 3.<br />
<br />
Chapter 4 largely moves away from covering language features (although
it does introduce class literals and strictfp) while focusing on
language-oriented APIs. You learn about Math, StrictMath, Package,
Primitive Type Wrapper Classes, Reference, Reflection, String,
StringBuffer and StringBuilder, Threading, BigDecimal, and BigInteger in
this chapter.<br />
<br />
Chapter 5 begins to explore Java's utility APIs by focusing largely on
the Collections Framework. However, it also discusses legacy
collection-oriented APIs and how to create your own collections.<br />
<br />
Chapter 6 continues to focus on utility APIs by presenting the concurrency utilities along with the Objects and Random classes.<br />
<br />
Chapter 7 moves you away from the command-line user interfaces that
appear in previous chapters and toward graphical user interfaces. You
first learn about the Abstract Window Toolkit foundation, and then
explore the Java Foundation Classes in terms of Swing and Java 2D.
Appendix C explores Accessibility and Drag and Drop.<br />
<br />
Chapter 8 explores filesystem-oriented I/O in terms of the File,
RandomAccessFile, stream, and writer/reader classes. New I/O is covered
in Appendix C. <br />
<br />
Chapter 9 introduces you to Java's network APIs, such as sockets. It
also introduces you to the JDBC API for interacting with databases. <br />
<br />
Chapter 10 dives into Java's XML support by first presenting an
introduction to XML (including DTDs and schemas). It next explores the
SAX, DOM, StAX, XPath, and XSLT APIs. It even briefly touches on the
Validation API. While exploring XPath, you encounter namespace contexts,
extension functions and function resolvers, and variables and variable
resolvers. <br />
<br />
Chapter 11 introduces you to Java's support for SOAP-based and RESTful
web services. In addition to providing you with the basics of these web
service categories, Chapter 11 presents some advanced topics, such as
working with the SAAJ API to communicate with a SOAP-based web service
without having to rely on JAX-WS. You will appreciate having learned
about XML in Chapter 10 before diving into this chapter.<br />
<br />
Chapter 12 helps you put to use some of the knowledge you've gathered in
previous chapters by showing you how to use Java to write an Android
app's source code. This chapter introduces you to Android, discusses its
architecture, shows you how to install necessary tools, and develops a
simple app. <br />
